But who is this Madame Le Fevre?

She is a real person, Geneviève Anne Marie Moufle de la Thuilerie, wife of Antoine Louis Le Fèvre de Caumartin, Marquis of Saint-Ange (1725-1803), who here, in the famous Nattier painting of 1763, is depicted as Eve, her goddess eternal youth.
Although she looks more like the one who really is a more mature woman in the court of Versailles, the painting was so successful that Natie made several more paintings with aristocratic ladies like Eve after him.

The sitter of this mythological portrait is Geneviève Anne Marie Moufle de la Thuilerie (d. 1763), the wife of Antoine Louis Le Fèvre de Caumartin, marquis de Saint-Ange (1725-1803). The husband was the impecunious heir to an old family of magistrates and royal administrators.

Nattier portrayed Madame de Caumartin as Hebe, the personification of eternal youth. Despite the disguise, the sitter is more a lady of the court of Versailles than a goddess of Mount Olympus. This representation was successful, Nattier painted a number of other high-born clients as Hebe.

We recommend using the glue for decoupage Annie Sloan Image Medium and for a final finish you can either use the same product or for greater durability Annie Sloan Lacquer (Gloss or Matte) varnish.
